Functional Committees

1. Waterski Committee
Chairman: Mr. Michael CHOW

• Develop and promote technical standards, training plan, and safety guidelines for traditional waterskiing (Slalom/Tricks/Jump)

• Plan annual local competitions

• Plan annual local and overseas training

• Standardize the facilities and equipment at the Chong Hing Water Sports Centre (towed boat specifications, rope length, buoy placement) and conduct risk assessments

• Collaborate with the Coaching and Judging Committee to hold coaching and juding seminar

2. Wakesurf Committee
Chairman: Mr. David CHONG

Members: Ms. Mabel FUNG, Mr. Andy LAU, Ms. Kelly LUK, Mr. Wilson WONG

• Promote and standardize the technical levels, scoring criteria, and safety procedures for wakesurfing

• Plan annual local competitions

• Plan annual local and overseas training

• Establish a level test system

• Collaborate with the Coaching and Judging Committee to hold coaching and juding seminar

• 3. Wakeboard Committee
Chairman: Mr. Toni LO
Members: Mr. Paul CHAN, CHENG Wai Nam, Epaphras WONG, Marcus YUEN

• Promote and standardize the technical levels, scoring standards, and safety procedures of wakeboarding

• Plan annual local competitions

• Plan annual local and overseas training

• Collaborate with the Coaching and Judging Committee to hold coaching and juding seminar

• Collaborate with the Hong Kong Team Affairs Committee to review and implement the established Hong Kong team selection system

• Establish a level test system

• Conduct technical updates in line with international/regional federations

4. Cable Committee
Chairman: Mr. Paul CHAN

• Promote and standardize the technical levels, scoring standards, and safety procedures of cable skiing

• Responsible for cable Winch’s Operational Guidelines and Safety Standards

• Planning annual local competitions

• Planning annual local and overseas training

• Collaborating with the Coaching and Judging Committee to hold coaching and juding seminar

• Collaborating with the Hong Kong Team Affairs Committee to review and implement the established Hong Kong team selection system

• Technical updates to align with international/regional federations

5. Memberships & Social Activities Committee
Chair: Vacant

• Membership recruitment, renewal, tier classification, and rights management

• Membership data and privacy management, member insurance and welfare plans

• Membership communication channels

• Collection of member complaints and suggestions, service satisfaction assessment

6. Law, Discipline, Complaint Committee
Chair: Mr. Marcus YUEN
Member: Mr. Andy LAU

• Handling and adjudicating match disputes, appeals against technical penalties, and eligibility reviews

• Developing disciplinary guidelines, violation classification, and disciplinary procedures

• Handling cases of conduct involving members or representative teams (including investigations and hearings)

• Coordinate with the Referees Committee and event organizers to ensure procedural fairness and record keeping.

• Collaborate with legal counsel and manage risks.

• If a hearing is necessary, a three-person panel will be established in conjunction with the project chairperson and the Hong Kong Team Affairs Committee.

7. Public Affairs Committee (PR & Marketing Committee)
Chairperson: Mr. Epaphras WONG

• External communications, public relations, and media relations (press releases, press conferences, brand image)

• Contact all sponsors and establish partnerships

• Social responsibility and community engagement (charity activities, water safety education)

• Social media content planning

8. Hong Kong Team Affairs Committee
Chairperson: Ms. Mabel FUNG

• Review the team selection mechanism with the project chairpersons.

• Balance resource allocation for overseas competitions across projects and determine the number of participants and personnel.

• Recommend team leaders.

• Competition schedule and logistics.

• Liaise with international competitions and organizers.

• Reflect the opinions/issues of the Hong Kong team with the project chairpersons.

9. Judging Committee Committee

Chairman: Mr. Andy LAU

• Referee training, assessment, and certification; continuing education and rule updates

• Local event referee assignment and conflict of interest management

• Rule interpretation and case study establishment

• Timely review in response to IWWF rule updates

10. Coaching & Youth Development Committee

Chairman: Mr. Epaphras WONG

Member: Ms. Kelly LUK

• Establish a coach training system (basic/intermediate/advanced) and certification standards

• Timely review and update teaching materials, safety risk management, and related procedures

• Continuing professional development for coaches (sports science, injury prevention, ethics)

• Arrangement of basic training classes and youth exchange programs

• Establishment of Talent ID

11. Local Event Committee

Chairman: Mr. Toni LO

Members: Mr. Wilson WONG, Mr. CHENG Wai Nam

• Overall planning, budgeting, and scheduling of local events and promotional activities

• Venue application, equipment and manpower allocation, and volunteer management

• Sponsorship coordination, event marketing, and audience experience design

• Post-event evaluation (safety, finances, participation, satisfaction)

12. International Affairs Committee
Chair: Mr. David CHONG
Member: Mr. Andy LAU

• Maintaining relationships with IWWF/IWWF Asia, regional waterskiing federations, and partner organizations

• Regularly reporting on the latest overseas information

• Assisting in bidding for international competitions, introducing international referees/instructors, and facilitating technical exchanges

• Coordinating external communication and protocol affairs for the Hong Kong team when competing abroad
